There is not much distance between Delhi and Kolkata… After breaking 58 MLAs, now Ritabrata Banerjee has his eyes on TMC MPs

Ritabrata Banerjee Rebel: After the assembly elections, there is a big split in Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress. 58 MLAs of the party have rebelled and elected Ritabrata Banerjee as their new legislature party leader. After the setback in the Assembly, now there is talk of a new crisis for TMC. After the disintegration of MLAs, now there is a danger of disintegration of MPs in the party. This matter gained further momentum when legislature party leader Ritabrata Banerjee claimed to be in touch with TMC MPs.

Kolkata is not far from Delhi: Ritabrata Banerjee

Questions were raised about any possible threat to Abhishek’s position as the leader of the TMC parliamentary party. Ritabrata Banerjee, leader of opposition in West Bengal and expelled from TMC, said, I am not even in Delhi. I am in Kolkata. Since I am not an MP, what can I say about the functioning of the parliamentary party? However, the distance between Delhi and Kolkata is not very much.

Talked to MPs

When asked during the conversation about the number of possible MPs leaving the TMC party, Ritabrata Banerjee said, I have no information about it. I tried calling 4-5 MPs yesterday, but unfortunately, I was not able to contact any of them. Their phones were either switched off or out of coverage area. Yes, today I did talk to some MPs, but not on their own phones.

He further said that a close friend of mine was in Delhi and he met some MPs. He gave me the phone, so I talked to him that way. So I don’t really have a clear idea.

TMC became active

The party has taken serious cognizance of the news of TMC MPs forming a separate faction. On Sunday, party leaders said that as per the anti-defection law, it is practically impossible for the MPs to do this, because TMC has 28 MPs in the Lok Sabha. According to this, to form a separate group, the support of at least two-thirds i.e. 19 MPs will be necessary. However, party officials say that such a large number of rebel MPs cannot form a separate parliamentary group. They will have to merge with some existing political party or the other.
