Japan’s capital Tokyo has overtaken Thailand’s Bangkok to have the highest number of repeat visitors in Asia in the first half of this year, according to booking data from online travel platform Agoda.
Indonesia’s popular resort island Bali ranked third, followed by Seoul and Osaka.
Vietnam's beach city Da Nang ranked sixth, ahead of Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Taipei, and Johor Bahru.

Japan, known for its high living standards, has the highest number of repeat foreign visitors in Asia in the first half of this year, according to Agoda.
The country received over 27 million tourists in the first eight months of the year, down slightly by 2.7% compared to the same period in 2025.
It aims to attract 60 million foreign tourists by 2030, up from 42 million in 2025.
Due to overcrowding, the Japanese government started raising the cost of a single-entry visa from 3,000 yen to 15,000 yen (US$92) from July this year while fees for multiple-entry visas will also jump from 6,000 yen to 30,000 yen, The Mainichi newspaper reported.
