Due to active monsoon across the country, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain and strong thunderstorm in more than 14 states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR and hill states tomorrow i.e. 28th August. According to meteorologists, during this period there is a serious possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 70 to 90 kilometers per hour, lightning and waterlogging in low-lying areas. Alert of torrential rains with thunder and lightning in UP, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has warned of torrential rains and thunderstorms in Purvanchal and Terai areas of Uttar Pradesh. There may be heavy rain with thunder and lightning in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Azamgarh, Lucknow and surrounding districts. In many districts of Bihar including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Purnia, there is a possibility of torrential rain with movement of clouds and storm with a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour. Due to the effect of low pressure area, heavy rains will continue in Bhopal, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Rewa divisions of Madhya Pradesh. Danger of landslides in hilly states, warning of strong storm in plain areas. Due to torrential rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, an alert has been issued for landslides and sudden rise in the water level of rivers. Travelers in sensitive areas like Chamoli, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Kullu, Kangra and Mandi have been advised to take special precautions and avoid unnecessary travel. In the plains, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and districts of Rajasthan like Jaipur, Bharatpur, Sikar and Bikaner can see the impact of strong dust storm and rain moving at a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour. Monsoon will be fierce in these 14+ states also. According to the Meteorological Department, the major states which will be affected by heavy rains and storms on August 28 include: Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Maharashtra Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura Meteorological Department's safety advisory and advice to farmers by IMD. Farmers, people working in the open and drivers have been given a strict warning not to take shelter under trees and electric poles during storms and lightning. There is a danger of damage to kutcha houses, solar panels and standing crops due to strong storm. The local administration has been put on alert mode to deal with emergency situations.
