Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has indicated that the club could make one more major signing before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
The Italian has overseen a significant rebuild of the Spurs squad after the club narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season.
Tottenham’s latest additions are both from Manchester City, with Brazil winger Savio joining in an £85 million deal and Egypt forward Omar Marmoush arriving on loan.
Spurs’ spending in the current window has now moved close to £300 million, and De Zerbi admitted that the scale of the club’s transfer activity has exceeded his own expectations.
“I think Savio and Marmoush are ‘bomba’. I don’t know what name or how you can call them but players of a high level, for sure,” De Zerbi said ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Newcastle on Saturday.
“I didn’t expect one transfer market and one window like we have done.
“I think we can do one player more and in one specific position, but yesterday we went for dinner with the owners. We spoke about this, but we have all of us on the same page and there is a very good connection.”

Marmoush became Tottenham’s eighth signing since the end of last season and is expected to add further options in attack.
De Zerbi believes the Egyptian can operate both as a central striker and in a more advanced playmaking role. His arrival also gives Spurs greater depth with James Maddison yet to return to full fitness and Mohammed Kudus only recently back after a lengthy injury absence.
Marmoush enjoyed a prolific 18-month spell with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 37 goals, before moving to Manchester City. His spell at City proved less productive, with the forward scoring 16 times.
De Zerbi, however, is confident that the 27-year-old can make a major impact in north London.
“A great signing for us. A great player, another great player and every one of us loves him as a player,” De Zerbi said.
“We hope he can do what he is able. I think he can give more solutions in attack. We need players in attack capable to score goals, to play well with the ball also, a very fast player, great qualities and we are all happy.
“I think he can play as a central striker. He is a different number 10 than (Conor) Gallagher or Maddison, more of an attacker, but he is a player of big qualities.”
With the deadline approaching, Tottenham could therefore add one final piece to a squad that has already undergone major changes under De Zerbi.
