Mumbai, June 18, 2026: By Maharashtra Tourism Department Maharashtra Convention Bureau (MCB) and Jochen Witt Consulting (JWC GmbH), one of the leading companies in the field of Meetings, Incentive Tours, Conferences, Exhibitions (MICE), announced that they have entered into an MoU. Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism Department Shri. Sanjay Khandare (B.P.S.), Deputy Secretary Shri. Vijay Powar, Chairman of Jochen Witt Consulting Company and Partner Shri. Jochen Witt, Partner at Jochen Witt Consulting Company Mr. Sebastian Witt & Jochen Witt Consulting Company (India & South-East Asia) Executive Director Shri. An MoU was signed in the presence of Vijay Sharma. This important decision has been taken to make the state globally recognized for its professional programs.
The Department of Tourism has established ‘Maharashtra Convention Bureau’ with the strategic objective of establishing the state as a major hub for the MICE sector. The main objective of this bureau is to attract international conferences, exhibitions and business events to Mumbai and other important cities of Maharashtra, thereby strengthening the state’s position in the global MICE sector.
On this occasion Additional Chief Secretary of Tourism Department Mr. Sanjay Khandare (BJP) said, “We believe that the state of Maharashtra is capable in terms of infrastructure, high quality manpower, ambition. With the guidance of Jochen Witt Consulting, we are now fully equipped to strengthen the state’s economy and achieve public interest goals.”
Maharashtra Convention Bureau has partnered with Jochen Witt Consulting Company, headquartered in Cologne, Germany and operating since 2007, to accelerate its treaty-related strategic intent. The company has strengthened its position as a renowned consultancy firm in tourism destination strategy, development of tourist destinations, organizing international events and bringing together various stakeholders. This partnership will greatly benefit the Maharashtra Convention Bureau for international experience and global connectivity. At the same time, the capacity of the state to compete with other advanced cities around the world will be strengthened. The work of the concerned bureau will be looked after by expert professionals in the field of exhibition and consultancy. This will ensure smooth functioning of the Bureau in line with global market needs and global best practices.
