Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), considered the uncrowned king of the premium full-size SUV segment in the Indian automobile market, has officially launched a new special edition of its popular model – Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition at the beginning of the festive season. The company has specially designed it for those SUV lovers who are looking for more muscular, sporty and premium road presence. This new Leader Edition has been introduced with an attractive black-out theme in the exterior, dual-tone finish and many advanced convenience features in the cabin. Toyota has announced that official bookings for the new Fortuner Leader Edition will begin from Monday, October 12 on the company’s official website and authorized dealerships across the country.

Toyota has introduced the Fortuner Leader Edition in rear-wheel-drive i.e. 4×2 configuration. It is offered with two transmission options:

The automatic variant is priced around ₹2.21 lakh more than the manual. Talking about color options, customers will be able to choose it in three premium shades – Super White, Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black.

To give the Leader Edition a more aggressive look than the standard Fortuner, the company has added several special styling elements to its exterior:

  • Signature Black Front Grille: At the front, a newly designed gloss-black front grille has been provided, which further emphasizes the wide stance of the vehicle.

  • Gloss-black alloy wheels: The SUV comes with bold 18-inch gloss-black alloy wheels with matching black hub caps.

  • Dual-tone black roof and black garnish: The roof gets a contrasting black treatment, along with a black finished shark-fin antenna and rear door garnish.

  • Exclusive Hood Emblem: A special ‘Fortuner’ hood emblem and body-side moldings have been given at the mouth of the bonnet, which give a perfect look to its aerodynamic and muscular profile.

The sporty and premium changes in the cabin are evident as soon as you step inside the car:

  • Dual-tone black and maroon upholstery: Black and deep maroon leatherette upholstery is provided on the inner trims of the seats and doors, which gives it a richer feel than the standard model.

  • Signature Ambient Lighting: To make night traveling comfortable, mood ambient lighting has been added to the dashboard and door panels.

  • Illuminated Scuff Plates: Bright aluminum scuff plates have been installed at the bottom of the doors.

  • Auto-Folding ORVMs & TPMS: Keeping in mind the everyday convenience and safety, Auto-folding Outside Rear-View Mirrors (Auto-folding ORVMs) and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) have been included as standard features when the vehicle is locked/unlocked. Apart from this, features like 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control and 7 airbags are present in it as before.

Mechanically, the company has not made any changes in this edition. Toyota’s tried and true Fortuner Leader Edition 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine (1GD-FTV) Has been given:

  • power output: This engine generates maximum power of 201 bhp (201 bhp) at 3,400 rpm.

  • Torque Delivery: It produces a massive torque of 420 Nm with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 500 Nm with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. This powertrain offers powerful traction and smooth driving dynamics from city streets to highway cruising.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is offering a standard warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000 kilometers on this special edition, which customers can extend up to 5 years or 2,20,000 kilometers as per their need. Along with this, customers are being given 5 years complimentary 24×7 Roadside Assistance (RSA) and easy EMI options of up to 7 years under the ‘Smart Balloon Finance’ scheme. The token amount can be deposited as soon as the booking window opens on October 12 and its nationwide delivery will be started on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras and Diwali. Display vehicles will start arriving at Toyota showrooms in all major cities including Lucknow, Delhi-NCR, Kanpur, Mumbai and Bengaluru from this week.
