Delhi Traffic Police has issued a special traffic advisory regarding the Independence Day celebrations. In view of the national celebrations to be held at the Red Fort on August 15, traffic restrictions and diversions will be imposed in many areas of the capital. According to the traffic police, movement of general vehicles will be restricted on many roads in and around the Red Fort from 4 am to 10 am on August 15. During this period, only vehicles with valid labels will be allowed to enter and travel on these routes.

Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chhatta Rail Chowk
SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk
Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort
Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg
Esplanade Road and Link Road leading to Netaji Subhash Marg.
Only vehicles with authorized and valid passes will be allowed to move on the Ring Road between Rajghat and Kashmiri Gate bus stand.
Advice to avoid these areas
Delhi Traffic Police has advised people who do not have valid parking labels to avoid some major routes and intersections between 4 am and 10 am. These include C-Hexagon of India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, Nizamuddin Khatta area, Ring Road between ISBT Kashmiri Gate, Outer Ring Road passing through Salimgarh Bypass. Alternative route for east-west direction
People traveling between East and West Delhi are advised to take NH-24/NH-9, Nizamuddin Khatta Marg, Barapulla Road, Ring Road, DND Flyway, Barapula Road-Ring Road Corridor. Passengers going towards North Delhi from Trans-Yamuna area are advised to take Pusta Road, GT Road, Yudhishthir Setu route.
There will be ban on commercial vehicles and buses also
In view of the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi Traffic Police has also imposed special restrictions on the movement of goods vehicles and buses. According to the traffic advisory, there will be a ban on entry and operation of commercial vehicles on many major routes of the capital from midnight on August 14 to 11 am on August 15. According to the traffic police, vehicles carrying goods will not be allowed to ply between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge during the stipulated period. This restriction has been imposed to maintain security and smooth traffic system during Independence Day celebrations.
Interstate bus services will also be affected
According to the advisory, there will also be a ban on operation of interstate buses between Kashmiri Gate ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT. Under the traffic plan implemented on the occasion of Independence Day, the routes of DTC and other city bus services passing through the affected routes will also be changed.
