New Delhi:Now the traffic police has started tightening the noose on the vehicles that are making the climate of the capital Delhi poisonous. In the war against pollution, surveillance has been set up from the roads of Delhi to the borders. The police have taken a strict stance against drivers violating the restrictions imposed under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). At some places, vehicles are being checked intensively and at other places, those breaking the rules are being turned back even before entering Delhi. Not only this, action like challan and seizure is also being taken against vehicles violating the restrictions.
The aim of Delhi Traffic Police is not only to take action against those who violate the rules, but also to make people realize the responsibility of controlling pollution. For this, special surveillance is being maintained on the entry routes, major borders and busy roads of the capital. Awareness campaign has also been intensified to inform the drivers about the rules of GRP.
Strict guarding with awareness on borders
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sanjay Tyagi said that Delhi Traffic Police is continuously taking action to effectively enforce the traffic restrictions. In this regard, a coordination meeting has also been held with the police of neighboring districts, so that better coordination can be created regarding the movement of vehicles and compliance with the restrictions on the borders of Delhi. The police is trying to ensure that restricted category vehicles do not enter the capital and ensure that pollution control rules are followed at every level.
He said that print media, social media and radio are being used to provide correct information to the people. Awareness boards have been installed at the entry routes and borders of Delhi. Apart from this, the restrictions and rules of GRP are being explained in detail by distributing pamphlets to the drivers, so that no one can ignore the rules by pretending to be ignorant.
7,279 vehicles checked in eight hours
The figures of the special operation of the traffic police also show the seriousness of the action. A total of 7,279 vehicles were checked during the campaign conducted from 12 noon to 8 pm on November 1. During this period, challans were issued against 10 vehicles violating the rules. At the same time, 714 vehicles were not allowed to enter Delhi and were returned. Apart from this, 38 vehicles were seized. These figures show that the police has increased the scope of monitoring and investigation to stop the movement of polluting vehicles on the roads of Delhi. Policemen deployed at the borders are checking the vehicles and action is being taken as per rules against the vehicles which do not come within the purview of the rules.
Appeal to people for cooperation, campaign will continue
Delhi Traffic Police says that this special campaign will continue in the future to ensure compliance with traffic restrictions. Police has appealed to the drivers to get information about the pollution control restrictions implemented in Delhi before leaving home. Do not ignore the rules regarding vehicles falling in the restricted category and cooperate with the police during investigation. The police have a clear message that the fight against pollution is not only the responsibility of government agencies, but participation of every citizen is necessary. Efforts to clean the capital's air can be successful only by following the rules.
