A guy enjoying a perk simply won’t fly.
Sacrificing a first-class seat on a flight is now an enlightening litmus test for romantic relationships, revealing whether a fella is chivalrous or selfish, warns an insistent influencer.
“A real man is going to switch seats with you,” said Madeline McAdam, a NYC-based content creator, arguing that gallant gents should automatically relinquish airplane upgrades to their wives or girlfriends while traveling, in a divisive viral vid. “It’s not about the seat. It’s the principle.”
The blonde’s ex-boyfriend broke the unspoken rule at 30,000 feet, failing to forfeit a business class bump-up to her during a trip to visit his family, McAdam claimed to over 500,000 virtual viewers.
“It was the beginning of the end,” said the no-nonsense New Yorker, who admittedly seethed in her second-class economy seat as her ex sipped spirits and intermittently waved her way from his posh premier trappings.
The arguably inconsiderate incident revealed to McAdam that her hedonistic beau was not marriage material — a revelation that contributed to the crash-and-burn of their relationship.
“My husband would force me to sit in that first-class seat,” she maintained. “A real man is going to switch with you. And anyone who wants to fight with me on that, I will go tooth and nail.”
Fortunately for McAdam, scrappy contrarians across the internet were more than happy to spar, digitally jabbing her with labels like “crazy” and “entitled.”
“Why does the man always have to suffer?” questioned a disagreeing commenter.
“Maybe I’m not a ‘real man’ but I disagree with the notion that a man must always sacrifice for his partner,” wrote a separate naysayer. “Sue me for thinking I deserve nice things, too.”
“Stay single guys. Stay single. With a girl, you’re expected to give zero f- -ks about [yourself] and 100 f- -ks about her,” urged another.
But rather than reckless selflessness, it seems women are simply seeking kind consideration from their partners.
From expecting men to pick up the restaurant bill on date night, to hoping a guy is generous enough to cover your ride-share expenses, the single gals of 2026 have openly griped about receiving the short end of the stick while on the hunt for true love.
A faction of McAdam’s female followers, however, apparently don’t have that problem.
“My boyfriend sat in the middle seat for a 9-hour flight. A real man wants YOU comfortable,” wrote a woman beneath the post, supporting McAdam’s position.
“My husband would never accept the upgrade unless I got one too, and if for whatever god-awful reason he didn’t we’d be divorced before we got off the flight,” added another.
“She’s making a good point,” said an equally supportive onlooker. “This isn’t a husband. And when you let stuff like this slide now, one day this will happen again. But then, you will have a baby on your hip and a ring on your finger, and he’s going to send you to economy with the baby.
