Today India is celebrating the completion of 80th year of its independence with full enthusiasm. The glory of the tricolor is visible everywhere from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Meanwhile, a picture has emerged from Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir which has attracted the attention of the entire country. Here, the parents of Abid Ramzan Sheikh, the dreaded commander of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, have proudly hoisted the national flag at their ancestral home. According to security agencies and local reports, Abid currently conducts terrorist activities in the valley from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and his name is included in the list of most wanted terrorists of the country.
Patriotism echoed in the house of the commander who spread terror in the valley.
According to information received from security forces, Abid Ramzan Sheikh has been continuously carrying out terrorist conspiracies by remaining active in the valley. His name is particularly associated with the dastardly attacks that were carried out in Jammu and Kashmir targeting civilians from outside states. Security agencies are constantly monitoring his activities. In such a situation, the family members of a dreaded terrorist hoisting the tricolor at their home and participating in the celebration of this national festival has become a topic of much discussion in the security and political circles. During this time, both Abid’s parents were seen participating in the flag hoisting programme, whose pictures are becoming increasingly viral on social media and media reports.
Such cases have come to light before also
This is not the first time that the tricolor has been hoisted at the house of a terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, the father of notorious Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, who was killed in an encounter with security forces, had also hoisted the national flag at his house on the occasion of Independence Day in the year 2021. Terrorist organizations had once made Burhan Wani their poster boy, but beyond all these discussions, his government teacher father had shown his patriotism and respect for the nation by hoisting the national flag on the national festival. Such incidents show that the common Kashmiri people have now started joining the mainstream and participating in the national festivals of the country with full enthusiasm.

On this auspicious occasion, State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah made several important announcements during his official Independence Day address. He stressed that his government is fully committed to restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and other key constitutional guarantees, which were withdrawn in August 2019. Along with this, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah specifically mentioned the atrocities and atrocities being committed on the people living in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). He said that when we look at the current situation across the border and the condition of the people there, it becomes completely clear that the historical decision taken by our ancestors to live with India was absolutely right and far-sighted.
