Washington. US President Donald Trump has said that Iran wants to make a deal with America and talks between the two countries are moving in the right direction. However, he questioned Iran's credibility, saying that it first agrees to the deal and later backtracks on its stance.
Speaking to reporters during a Halloween party held in Florida, Trump said that Iran wants to make a deal, but it remains to be seen whether it is actually ready to reach a conclusion or not. He clarified that America is not in a hurry for talks and is not working under the pressure of any fixed deadline.
Even when asked about the timeline of talks being mediated by Qatar, Trump said that America is in no particular hurry. During this, he claimed that the American military action has caused huge damage to Iran's navy, air force and weapons manufacturing capacity.
Trump also reiterated his warning to target 'Pickaxe Mountain' linked to Iran's nuclear program. He said that if America wants, it can attack this base rapidly. The American side claims that Iran's nuclear base is present beneath this hill.
On the question related to the possibility of ordering another military attack on Iran, Trump said that even if he took such a decision, he would not make its information public in advance. He refused to completely rule out the possibility of military action.
Meanwhile, Qatar is playing the role of mediator to reduce tension between the two countries and find a way to end the war. On 30 and 31 October, Qatari representatives met with Iranian officials, first in Tehran and then in Doha. The purpose of these efforts is to pave the way for direct negotiations between the US and Iran and to prevent new military confrontation in the region.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also indicated that President Trump has not yet taken any final decision regarding new attacks on Iran. Washington is talking about giving priority to a diplomatic solution, but the military option is still kept open.
