Trump Golden Dome Missile Defense: US President Donald Trump had made an important announcement of the ambitious Golden Dome Missile Defense Shield Project in 2025. This ‘Golden Dome’ is being built on the lines of Israel’s Iron Dome. Will be fully capable of stopping missiles from space and land.

Seeing this new and highly advanced defense system, the concerns of countries like Russia and China have increased considerably. In a recently issued joint statement, these countries have expressed their strong objection and deep displeasure over this heavy military deployment and missile defense system.

Trump has stated the total cost of this advanced missile defense project to be $175 billion, which makes it very expensive. However, the US Congressional Budget Office estimates that its cost could range from $161 billion to $542 billion over 20 years. This powerful weapon will be America’s first weapon to be sent into space, which will take about three years to build. Once fully prepared, it will be able to easily stop missiles fired from any part of the world or from space.

How will the system work?

According to the US government, this highly advanced missile defense system will include a total of four different layers of security. One of these layers will be completely based on satellite, while the remaining three layers will work actively from the ground. These three ground-activated layers will be located entirely in America, Alaska and Hawaii. 11 short range batteries will also be installed at these strategic locations which will make this entire system extremely strong.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have cornered America by issuing a very strong joint statement. He has said that this multi-layered missile defense system of Trump will have a very serious and negative impact on international security. Beijing and Moscow condemned the provocative actions of some countries possessing nuclear weapons without naming the US. They say that such systems undermine the fundamental security interests of other countries and increase global strategic risks.
