Trump’s strict warning to Iran on closing the Strait of Hormuz, says ‘You won’t even be able to return to your country’

New Delhi: US President Donald Trump said on Sunday, June 21 that he had talked to Iranian officials throughout the night and gave a clear warning to Tehran that if it tried to stop shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, the consequences would be dire.

Trump said: You will not be able to return to the country

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil routes. Trump told Fox News that if Iran shut it down, Washington would respond with massive force. He said, "If you stop it, your country will not survive. You won’t even be able to go back to your country."

Trump also indicated that if necessary, the US could take control of this waterway and impose transit fees on oil ships passing through it. He said, "If things don’t work out, we will charge toll."

The US President said that there will be no charges during the 60-day ceasefire period. But if a permanent agreement is not reached during this period, America can impose duties on the ships later. Trump called it compensation for the services of the American military and called himself the Guardian Angel of West Asia.

Iran’s response and Trump’s reaction

Trump’s warning came after Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian’s statement. Pezeshkian said that Iran will not give up its right to enrich uranium and America must accept this.

On this, Trump advised Tehran to reduce its rhetoric. He said, "They should keep their tongue in check. If concrete steps are not taken for compromise, we can capture the rest of the country as well."

Talks continue in Switzerland

On the other hand, US Vice President JD Vance said that good progress has been made in the talks between America and Iran in Switzerland. There are still differences over Lebanon and Hormuz, but consensus is emerging on many issues. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said that the meeting of representatives of America and Iran has started under the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan.

It has been named Lake Lucerne Summit. Qatar says that it is hoped that these meetings will result in a comprehensive agreement in which all issues are resolved. Talks are still going on and the next few days will decide whether the tension in the Middle East reduces or increases.
