Bhopal Twisha Sharma death case: Serious allegations against husband and in-laws, SIT investigation intensified
A sad and shocking case has come to light in Bhopal. 33-year-old Twisha Sharma was found dead in her husband’s house on 12 May 2026. After Twisha’s death, her father and family have made very serious allegations against her husband Samarth Singh and his family. She has claimed that the husband’s side is creating obstacles in the path of justice by using its high reach and high profile contacts. This matter is now attracting the attention of the entire country.
What happened?
Twisha Sharma was a resident of Noida, UP. She was the wife of a lawyer Samarth Singh. Both of them met on a dating app in 2024 and got married in December 2025. This tragic incident happened just a few months after the marriage. On May 12, Twisha was found dead in her in-laws’ house. Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma and cousin Ashish Sharma immediately reached Bhopal from Delhi-Ajmer. He told NDTV in detail that what he saw after coming here was very horrifying and disturbing.
Twisha’s last conversation
Twisha had messaged her friend Meenakshi before taking the dreadful step of suicide. Twisha had warned her friend not to get married. It was written in the message, ‘I am stuck brother. ..Just don’t get trapped, you can’t talk much. I will call when the right time comes. Meenakshi replied, ‘I am worried about you Tuktuk, I love you very much. I am always with you. According to India Today, this was Twisha’s last conversation with her friend.
family allegations
Ashish Sharma told that as soon as the information about the daughter’s death was received, the entire family reached Bhopal, but here they had to wander from door to door to get justice. According to Ashish, the FIR was registered three days later, on May 15, at 2:30 am, and that too in a very shoddy manner. When we saw Disha’s body, there were many injury marks on her body, but the police refused to accept any kind of crime and did not want to register an FIR. After this the family had to make rounds of Mahila Police Station, Women’s Commission, Human Rights Commission and Police Commissioner’s office. The bail was granted without any opposition in the court. The court was changed four times and the family was moved here and there from 9:30 am to 5 pm. The crowd outside the court harassed the family, the women were misbehaved. Comments were made to the bereaved mother that ‘daughters commit suicide for money’. The family said that they got security only with the help of Indian Army soldiers.
Twisha had given hints earlier
When NDTV asked whether Twisha had given any indication earlier that she was facing any kind of harassment at her in-laws’ house. Father Navnidhi Sharma told that Twisha had told him many times that she was not happy. She had signaled to her father, ‘Papa, if things don’t work out here, I want to come back.’ Twisha had also booked a return home ticket, but her husband forcefully got it cancelled. The family was also booking tickets to bring him back, but those also got cancelled.
taking advantage of high position
Navnidhi Sharma called it a ‘sheer brutal murder’. She alleged that husband Samarth Singh’s close relative is Lokayukta Satyendra Singh and father-in-law Giribala Singh is a retired judge. The family says that due to the influence of high officials, the post mortem was also delayed and an attempt was made to give the body for cremation quickly so that the truth could be hidden. Later the commissioner gave permission for post-mortem, but then the process was changed by asking for permission from the judiciary. Expressing disappointment, the father said, ‘Our hopes of getting justice are over. Lokayukta is his relative, he has people in the administration. In such a situation, who will help us?
police action
Considering the seriousness of the case, the police have formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT). SIT chief ACP Rajneesh Kashyap said that action is being taken against Samarth Singh and his father Giribala Singh under the provisions of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) on charges of dowry harassment and dowry death. Several teams have been deployed to arrest Samarth Singh and the search for him has been intensified.
