Twisha Sharma murder case: Mother-in-law Giribala Singh arrested after 6 hours of interrogation
Bhopal: The CBI on Thursday arrested retired judge Giribala Singh, a day after Madhya Pradesh High Court canceled his anticipatory bail. Giribala Singh is the mother-in-law of deceased Twisha Sharma. He was interrogated for about six and a half hours, after which the investigating agency took action. Earlier on May 15, the sessions court had granted him anticipatory bail, but later the High Court canceled that relief.
What did the High Court say in the decision?
The High Court said in its decision that considering the facts of the case and the allegations against Giribala Singh, it is not appropriate to grant him anticipatory bail. Vacation judge Dev Narayan Mishra also mentioned the post-mortem report in the 17-page order. The court said that such additional injuries were found on Twisha’s body, which could not have been caused merely by taking down the body with a rope or taking it to the hospital. After this comment the matter took a more serious turn.
After the High Court’s decision, Twisha Sharma’s family called it a big step towards justice. Advocate Anurag Srivastava, appearing on behalf of the victim’s family, said that Giribala Singh had been in the judicial service for a long time and if he has respect for the law, then he should surrender before the investigating agency and cooperate in the investigation.
Twisha’s family has made serious allegations of dowry harassment and mental harassment against Giribala Singh and his son Samarth Singh. The family says that their daughter was kept under constant mental pressure and tortured. It was also alleged that Giribala Singh tried to tamper with the incident site by using his experience and influence.
Giribala Singh denied the allegations
However, Giribala Singh has denied all these allegations. He had recently claimed in a press conference that Twisha was struggling with drug addiction, but the deceased’s family termed this allegation as completely false. Giribala, who was the chairperson of the Bhopal consumer court, had also said that Twisha’s family was trying to tarnish her image and influence the case.
Meanwhile, the police have seized CCTV footage from Giribala Singh’s house in Bhopal. Last week, this case was handed over to the CBI and at present the central agency is engaged in a thorough investigation of the entire matter.
