Punjab: Two cyber thugs arrested for cheating people by posing as fake ‘spiritual healers’

Punjab: Cyber ​​Police Station Central District team of Delhi Police has arrested two accused from Mohali, Punjab, who were duping people in the name of spiritual treatment and worship by creating fake female profiles on social media. The arrested accused have been identified as Ganesh and Mandeep Singh. Both are residents of Sriganganagar, Rajasthan and were living in a rented flat in Kharar area of ​​Mohali.

Police gave this information

According to the police, the accused used to create fake female profiles on Instagram and Facebook with names like “Zaynab Khan”, “Muskaan Khan”, “Zara Khan”, “Kavita Chaudhary” and “Islam Wzifa”. Through these profiles, he used to claim on social media that a “powerful spiritual healer” had solved people’s love marriage, family and personal problems. The accused used to connect people who contacted these profiles on WhatsApp and emotionally trap them by calling themselves Baba or spiritual healers. After this, money was collected in installments in the name of worship, Tantra Vidya, Vashikaran and special rituals.

How was the matter revealed?

The matter came to light when a victim complained to the cyber police station that he was duped of Rs 2.51 lakh in the name of solving his personal problems. During the investigation, the police conducted technical investigation of WhatsApp number, Instagram account, IP details and bank transactions. After this, the team raided Kharar in Mohali and arrested both the accused.

These things were recovered from the accused

Police have recovered five smartphones from the accused, in which fake social media profiles, chats, QR codes and other digital evidence have been found. The investigation also revealed that more than 2,000 people from across the country were in contact with these fake accounts. According to the police, the arrested accused Ganesh is a BA student, while Mandeep Singh has studied BA with ITI Diesel Mechanic. At present, the police is carrying out further investigation to find out the entire network and the amount of fraud.
