New Delhi: A horrific air accident occurred in Rio de Janeiro city of Brazil on Sunday morning, when two helicopters flying over the western region collided with each other. The accident was so serious that all six people on board both the helicopters died on the spot. After the accident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the area and a large number of emergency services were sent to the spot.
Both helicopters lost control
According to Rio de Janeiro’s military fire department, both helicopters lost control immediately after the collision and fell down. After the accident, relief and rescue work was started rapidly. Firemen, police and medical teams reached the spot and started controlling the situation. However, no one aboard the helicopters could be saved.
According to officials, one of the crashed helicopters crashed into a car dealership in the western part of the city. At that time many electric vehicles were parked there. As soon as the helicopter fell, there was a huge explosion and fire broke out nearby. Within a short time, the fire engulfed many vehicles and surrounding areas, raising the possibility of large-scale damage.
Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the fire department immediately started the operation to extinguish the fire. After several hours of hard work, the fire was completely controlled and it was stopped from spreading to the surrounding areas. Officials expressed relief that apart from the people in the helicopter, no other casualties have been reported.
After the accident, the entire area was cordoned off for security reasons. Rescue teams searched the debris and ensured that no other people were affected. Also, expert teams have started assessing the damage. Remains of helicopters and other evidence are also being collected from the crash site.
Collision investigation continues
At present it is not clear under what circumstances the collision between the two helicopters took place. Aviation security agencies and local administration have started a detailed investigation into the matter. The investigators focused on the flight route, weather conditions, instructions from air traffic control and technical aspects. Officials say that the real reasons for the accident will be known only after the investigation is completed.
