Two women from North-East were molested and assaulted in Delhi, four accused identified

A case of alleged molestation, assault and racist comments against two women from North-East India has come to light in Nehru Place area of ​​South-East Delhi. Police have identified four main accused in this case and continuous raids are being conducted to arrest them.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 6:30 am on May 10 near a tea stall located outside a hotel. At around 7 am in the morning, Kalkaji Police Station received information through PCR call that two women were in distress. As soon as the information was received, the local police team reached the spot and took out both the women safely. A senior police officer said that preliminary investigation has revealed that some men started making objectionable and derogatory comments on women. Within no time the dispute escalated and the matter reached a scuffle.

The victim women alleged that they were drinking tea outside the hotel when two youths started abusing them. After this many other people also came there and the argument turned into a violent clash. One of the women alleged that she was molested and her clothes were torn during the incident. Both the women also claimed that the accused made racist comments against them.

According to the victims, when they tried to leave from there, the accused blocked their way. A woman alleged that she was attacked with bamboo sticks. The accused also threatened her that if she told anyone about the incident, she would have to face serious consequences. After the police arrived, both the women were immediately taken to AIIMS for medical examination.

In this case, an FIR was registered under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) at Kalkaji Police Station on May 10. These include Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 74 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman), Section 126(2) (wrongful restraint), Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation), Section 78 (stalking) and Section 3(5) (common intention).

Police said that the victim women have said that if the accused are brought before them, they can identify them. During the investigation, surrounding CCTV footage was scrutinized and many witnesses and passersby present at the spot were questioned.

So far eight people have been detained and interrogated. On the basis of investigation, four main accused have been identified. Several police teams are continuously raiding possible locations in search of the accused. However, no accused has been arrested so far.
