Routes like Hyderabad, Delhi and Kochi remained the most expensive for travelers in the month of August. Travel agents say rising jet fuel prices and regional tensions have led to longer flight routes, leading to fares that have increased by 30 to 40 percent compared to last year.

Safir Mahmood, general manager of Smart Travels, said that there is no major decline in fares and it is 15-20 percent more than last year. Although fares on some Kerala routes have come down from Dh3,600 to Dh2,600, it is still expensive. The advice for passengers is that if they can advance their travel date by 7 to 10 days, they can get much cheaper tickets.
