Chennai: DMK leader and Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has been arrested by the police from his Chennai residence after an FIR was registered against him for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
The case relates to a rally held regarding the Cauvery water dispute. It is alleged that offensive slogans were raised during the rally against Chief Minister Vijay and actress Trisha. A police complaint was filed by Chief Minister Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).
Following the proceedings in the case, Udhayanidhi Stalin moved the Madras High Court on Tuesday and filed a petition seeking anticipatory bail in the FIR lodged against him. However, the police arrested him before he could do so.
