Chennai. Police arrested former Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin from his Chennai residence in connection with his alleged objectionable remarks against actress Trisha. However, shortly afterward, during a hearing in the Madras High Court, the state government clarified that there were no plans to remand him and he would be released on station bail after the interrogation was completed.
A case has been registered against Udhayanidhi Stalin under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology Act, and the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. This action was taken based on a complaint by the women’s wing of the Tamilaga Vetti Kazhagam (TVK).
The complaint alleges that during a public meeting in Thanjavur, Udhayanidhi Stalin made comments that insulted the dignity of actress Trisha. The controversial statement was claimed to have been made after the crowd chanted slogans in her name during the meeting.
After his arrest, when police were taking Udhayanidhi Stalin away, he spoke to the media and categorically denied all allegations. He stated that his statement had been distorted and that false news had been spread through “cut, copy, and paste” on social media.
Stalin stated that he had not made any such statement as claimed. He stated that he would fully face the legal process and that the truth would emerge in court.

According to PTI, during the hearing of the case in the Madras High Court, the Tamil Nadu government also clarified that Udhayanidhi Stalin was not required to be detained. The government informed the court that he would be released on station bail today after the interrogation was completed.
