UGC Scholarship 2026: If you’re pursuing postgraduate (PG) studies and looking for financial assistance, this news may be useful. The University Grants Commission (UGC) will soon launch the application process for two important scholarship schemes on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Once the application process opens, eligible students will be able to fill out the online forms.
Applications will be made for these two scholarship schemes
This year, the UGC will invite applications for two major scholarship schemes. The first is the National Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies (NSPG) , which aims to help financially needy students pursue postgraduate studies. The second is the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship , which provides financial assistance for higher education to deserving students from Northeast India.
PG students will get assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh every year
Under the NSPG scheme, selected students will receive financial assistance of up to ₹1.5 lakh per year. This amount will be provided in installments over two years. This benefit is available only to students enrolled in the first year of regular or full-time postgraduate studies at a recognized institution.
Ishan Uday Scholarship will also provide huge benefits.
Under the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme, eligible students from the northeastern states will receive financial assistance ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹80,000 annually, depending on their course. This assistance can last for three to five years. Candidates must have passed the 12th grade from a recognized board and are enrolled in the first year of a regular undergraduate (UG) program at a recognized institution.
When will the applications start?
The UGC has not yet released an official application start date. The commission says a detailed schedule will be released soon. Once the notification is issued, interested and eligible students will be able to apply online on the National Scholarship Portal.
