Ukraine’s big attack with 370 suicide drones, Moscow’s sky covered in smoke, Putin launched missile attack in response

New Delhi: The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has once again reached a dangerous turn. This time, Ukraine sent a large number of drones to attack deep inside Russia, causing fires in many areas around Moscow and covering the sky with black smoke for hours. Soon after, Russia also retaliated by launching massive missile attacks on Ukraine. This retaliatory action by both the countries has once again made it clear that the war is no longer limited to the border areas.

According to Russian officials, Ukrainian drone strikes took place in the Elektrostal and Noginsk areas, located about 50 kilometers east of Moscow. A large logistics complex in Elektrostal caught fire, while an oil depot in Noginsk also came under attack. According to eyewitnesses, the fire was so fierce that its smoke remained visible in the sky for several hours. After the incident, several teams of the fire department reached the spot and started the operation to extinguish the fire.

Claim to send more than 370 drones

The Mayor of Moscow said that more than 370 drones were sent towards the capital and surrounding areas. Russian air defense system destroyed most of the drones on the way, but some drones were successful in reaching their intended target. Officials say that some important structures have been damaged by the attack. However, according to initial information, no major human loss has been confirmed. The regional administration also said that there may be some impact on fuel supply, but the situation is under control.

Russia retaliated with missiles

Shortly after the drone attacks, Russia launched large-scale missile attacks on Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, it was one of Russia’s largest ballistic missile actions since the war began. Ukrainian Air Force said that Russia fired 41 missiles overnight. Of these, 18 missiles were shot down on the way by the Ukrainian Air Defense, while there have been reports of damage caused by the remaining missiles in many areas.

Zelensky told the reason for the attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the locations targeted were part of the logistics network related to Russia’s military activities and drone manufacturing. According to him, Russia is continuously attacking Ukrainian cities, so in retaliation those targets which are helping in war operations are being targeted. However, Russia rejected these claims and said that Ukraine was attacking civilian areas and called it a terrorist action.

Moscow is counted among the safest cities in the world, where many modern air defense systems including S-400 are deployed. Despite this, due to such a large number of drones coming together, some drones were successful in crossing the security cordon. Defense experts believe that sending drones in large numbers simultaneously can become a challenge for any air defense system. The oil depot of Noginsk is considered an important center of fuel supply for the Moscow region. From here petrol, diesel and other fuels are supplied to the surrounding areas. If there is serious damage to this center then fuel distribution at the local level may be affected. At the same time, the logistics complex located at Elektrostal is said to be part of Russia’s major e-commerce network. There is a possibility that this attack will also affect the supply chain.

In this conflict that has been going on for almost three years, both the countries have now started attacking each other’s internal areas.
