Ukraine's biggest attack on Russia in 2026, in response Russian missiles rained on Zelensky's hometown

New Delhi: In the Russia-Ukraine war, both countries are now attacking deep inside the enemy’s territory. On Sunday, Ukraine carried out its largest drone attack in 2026, in response to which Russia launched a strike on President Zelensky’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih.

822 drones shot down, 17 areas still on target

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukraine sent 822 drones across the country. Most of these were shot down or neutralized. The attacks took place in 17 regions, with the focus being on southern and western Russia.

At least 6 people were killed in these attacks. Most of the drones came around Moscow. Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov said that 187 drones were stopped in the Moscow area alone. The biggest damage was caused to Wildberries’ Coledino warehouse.

Located 45 km south of Moscow, this 2.5 lakh square meter warehouse is a key logistics hub for Russia’s largest online retailer. In the video, a huge plume of smoke was seen rising from the warehouse.

Ukraine claimed to have targeted 7 of Wildberries’ 10 major logistics centers. Kiev alleges that this company supplies goods to the Russian army.

Attack on rocket fuel plant and bus

5 people died due to drone falling in Rostov area. The Ukrainian military said the attack also targeted a defense-industrial unit that produces solid rocket propellant for Russian weapons. Russia has not yet said anything on this claim.

Another person killed in drone strike on a bus near the Ukrainian border in Belgorod. Belgorod has become the victim of attacks several times since the beginning of the war. Over the past few months, Kiev has been increasing the use of long-range drones to disrupt Russia’s military production, refineries and supply chains.

Russia’s response: Attack on steel plant in Kryvyi Rih

Along with Ukraine’s major attack, Russia also retaliated. Russian forces targeted the city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine. The city is the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Arcelor-Mittal’s steel plant became the target in the attack.

This is the largest steel plant in the country. According to Ukrainian officials, 2 people were killed and 14 injured in the attack. The company said that essential facilities related to power generation and blast furnace have been damaged, due to which some part of the production had to be stopped.

The scope of war is increasing

The attacks from both sides show that the war is no longer limited to the frontline only. Ukraine wants to destroy logistics and industry inside Russia, so Russia is intensifying attacks on important cities and industrial hubs of Ukraine. Civilian areas, large warehouses and steel plants are now the direct targets. Due to this, the war may take a more dangerous turn in the coming days.
