Umar Khalid got big relief from Delhi High Court, got 3 days bail even after protest from police, will have to do this work

Umar Khalid Gets Interim Bail: Umar Khalid, arrested under UAPA in the 2020 Delhi riots case, has got bail. Delhi High Court has granted him three days conditional interim bail. Khalid had challenged the order of the trial court in which his interim bail application was rejected.

Delhi High Court heard the petition of Omar Khalid today. Meanwhile, the High Court granted interim bail to Umar Khalid from June 1 to June 3. The division bench of Justice Pratibha M. Singh and Justice Madhu Jain gave this order. According to the information, Umar Khalid has been given the responsibility to take care of his mother during her surgery.

Conditions will have to be followed during bail

However, the Delhi High Court has set some conditions regarding the bail, under which Khalid will have to remain at his stated address in the Delhi-NCR area. The court made it clear that Khalid will have to live at this address and he can only go to the hospital to meet his mother and not at any other place.

The court directed that Khalid will have to deposit a bail amount of Rs 1 lakh. According to the court order, Umar Khalid will not be allowed to go anywhere other than the hospital. Moreover, he should have only one mobile number.

Delhi Police opposed the bail

Delhi Police opposed the bail of Umar Khalid in the High Court. ASG SV Raju argued that the surgery was minor. He suggested that Khalid could be allowed to meet his mother with police protection.

Khalid worked to take care of his ailing mother during her surgery and to help his uncle ‘Chehlum’ Had sought interim bail of 15 days to attend the function. His uncle passed away last month. Earlier, Delhi’s Karkardooma Court had refused to grant interim bail to Umar Khalid.

Umar Khalid is in jail since 2020

Khalid was arrested in September 2020. He was charged with criminal conspiracy, rioting, unlawful assembly and several other offenses under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He has not yet got regular bail in this case. However, Umar Khalid has already got interim bail.
