North-East Delhi riots accused Umar Khalid will go out of Tihar for three days, High Court grants interim bail

New Delhi. Umar Khalid has got three days interim bail from Delhi High Court. The court has granted three days interim bail to Umar Khalid, who is jailed in the UAPA case related to the North-East Delhi riot conspiracy. This relief has been given on humanitarian grounds in view of his mother’s major surgery. Umar Khalid has been in jail for the last five and a half years.

While granting bail, the High Court has also imposed many strict conditions. The court has clearly said that during the bail he will be confined to his home and hospital only. They will not be allowed to go to any public program or any other place. Also, they will be allowed to use only one mobile number, information about which will have to be given to the investigating agency.

Earlier the lower court had rejected his petition. The court said that other family members are present to take care of the mother. After this Umar Khalid appealed in the High Court. During the hearing, his lawyer argued that it was necessary for the son to be with him during the mother’s serious surgery. The court has granted interim relief from June 1 to June 3 on a surety bond of Rs 1 lakh. After the bail period is over, he will have to return to Tihar Jail.
