Gwalior:A truck laden with paddy crushed devotees on the way to Shitala Mata Temple in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. 13 people died in this accident, while dozens were injured.
According to Gwalior SSP Dharamveer Singh, there is a slope on the road coming to the temple from Chhinor. Movement of heavy vehicles is prohibited on this route. A truck loaded with paddy was stopped here at around 1:30 in the night. But the truck broke the police barricades and suddenly went out of control and came down the slope. After this he collided with the outer wall and gate of the temple. The devotees present on the road were crushed under the truck, due to which this tragic accident occurred. As soon as the news of the accident spread, there was chaos in the area.
How many injured, how many deaths
SSP said that a total of 39 people were taken to the hospital. Of these, 13 were declared dead. Five to six patients have suffered serious injuries and even suffered fractures. The remaining injured have minor injuries and are undergoing treatment. The injured also include two policemen, who were on duty at the time of the accident. Both are being treated. Gwalior Collector Ruchika Chauhan said that information was received about the truck going out of control at around 1:30 in the night. As soon as the news was received, ambulance and other vehicles were sent to the spot. CT scans and X-rays are being done to accurately assess the injuries of the injured, so that doctors can decide the treatment.
RTO will do technical check of the truck
According to the Collector, barriers and police checkpoints were present on the road during Navratri. In such a situation, the question is arising that how did the truck break the barricade and reach the way to the temple. This will be investigated. For this, an RTO team has been sent to technically check the truck. The team will find out whether there was any fault with the vehicle or not, and how the truck went out of control while turning left.
The administration is investigating the causes of the accident as well as all aspects related to security arrangements. Now everyone's eyes are on the report of this investigation, which will make it clear where the mistake happened. At present, the entire focus of the administration is on the treatment of the injured.
