Under ‘Maha Tree Plantation 2026’, 35 crore saplings will be planted in a single day today, CM Yogi will start it.

Lucknow:A big campaign is going to be started on Sunday to increase the green cover of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will launch the state-wide ‘Maha Tree Plantation 2026’ campaign from Gorakhpur. This campaign is being done under PM Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ scheme. Yogi Adityanath shared information about this mega campaign through a post on social media platform X on Saturday and appealed to the public for active participation in it.

Mahayagya of planting 35 crore plants

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has described this green campaign as a responsibility towards the future generation and a resolve to build a ‘developed Uttar Pradesh’. He wrote in his post, this historic ‘Tree Plantation Mahayagya-2026’ is starting from Gorakhpur, the holy place of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath ji. This year a huge target has been set to plant 35 crore saplings in the entire state.

A tree provides shade for future generations

CM said that protecting plants is a part of our culture. A tree planted by you will provide shade, life-giving oxygen and a strong base of life for future generations. The Chief Minister has urged every citizen to take a pledge to plant at least one tree and take care of it so that it can be made a mass movement.

Gorakhpur will get many gifts

On the occasion of the launch of this campaign, the Chief Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the special ‘Holy Triveni Plantation Development Park’ in Gorakhpur district. Along with this, the UP government is taking a big initiative to increase the participation of farmers towards environmental protection.

Departmental preparations and plan for planting trees

To achieve this huge target of Rs 35 crore, various departments of the state government as well as the central government are working together. This year, the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department has been made the nodal agency, which alone will plant more than 15 crore saplings. Apart from this, the responsibility of planting Rs 10 crore saplings has been given to Rural Development Department, Rs 3.25 crore to Agriculture Department, Rs 1.50 crore to Horticulture Department, Rs 1.22 crore to Panchayati Raj Department and Rs 1 crore to Revenue Department. Under the Central Government, Indian Railways will plant 12 lakh saplings and the Defense Ministry will plant 7 lakh saplings.

Previous governments targeted for development in Kushinagar

During this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while talking about the issues of regional development and employment of the state, made a sharp attack on the policies of the previous governments. He said that earlier development and employment opportunities were limited only to western districts like Noida and Ghaziabad, but due to the policies of the present government, it has now expanded to eastern districts like Kushinagar and Gorakhpur. Accusing the previous governments of stalling the progress of the state, the CM said, if the previous governments had shown even the slightest interest in the development of Uttar Pradesh, the youth of Kushinagar would not have had to migrate for employment. Before 2017, no concrete initiative was taken by them regarding development projects, due to which investment had stopped.
