New Delhi, 31 October 2026: 490 employees of various States/Union Territories/Central Armed Police Forces/Central Police Organizations have been awarded the 'Union Home Minister Efficiency Medal' for the year 2026. This medal is given to recognize excellent performance, promote high professional standards and boost the morale of the officer/employee concerned. The 'Union Home Minister Efficiency Medal', launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, will boost the morale of all police personnel.
“Union Home Minister Efficiency Medal” has been established by the daily notification of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India dated 1st February, 2024. Union Home Minister Efficiency Medal is awarded to Police Forces, Security Establishments, State/Union Territories/Central Police Organisations/Central Armed Police Forces/National Security Guards/Intelligence Wing/Branch/Special Branch of Assam Rifles all over the Indian Union; and Members of the Forensic Sciences (Centre/State/Union Territories) in recognition of excellence in performance, outstanding service in investigation, exceptional performance, indomitable and adventurous intelligence service and commendable work done by Government scientists serving in the field of Forensic Science. This Chandrak is declared every year on 31st October on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
