While replying to the discussion on ‘Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026’ in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament, Union Minister Jitendra Singh fiercely targeted Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Congress Party. Expressing strong objection to the words like ‘idiot’ used in Parliament, the Union Minister said that even if a person considers himself an idiot, such words cannot be used inside Parliament. This sharp retort has come in response to the statements made by Rahul Gandhi in the House and the serious allegations made against Home Minister Amit Shah.

Information about parliamentary rules and clarification on firing claims

During the discussion, Union Minister Jitendra Singh took Rahul Gandhi to task and said that he is not even aware of basic parliamentary rules and procedures. Refuting the allegations of firing made on Home Minister Amit Shah, Jitendra Singh clarified that no bullets were fired on the protesters, but only tear gas shells were used to control the situation. He explained in blunt words that according to the law of the country, no minister has the right to order firing or use of force, but only the magistrate, hence such fabricated allegations are completely baseless.

Protest outside PM residence and sarcasm on opposition politics

The Union Minister also took a dig at the protest organized by Rahul Gandhi outside the Prime Minister’s residence on July 21. He said that his department is involved in research and when he studied this incident, he found that the opposition leaders were expecting for a long time that the people of the country would elect him and make him sit in the PM’s residence. When this desire was not fulfilled, out of disappointment and frustration he sat at the door of the PM’s residence. Quoting Gen Ji’s language, he said that initially Congress wanted to stay away from this protest, but later due to FOMO, they jumped into it.

Government’s stand on paper leak and stringent amendments

Speaking on the paper leak cases, Jitendra Singh clarified that the government took prompt action without any delay in the NEET question paper leak case and had handed over the investigation of the case to CBI on July 12 itself. He informed the House that the charge sheet has been filed in this case and the hearing has also started. After the implementation of the new amendment bill, the verdict in such cases will be given through fast track courts within just five months. He reminded that the original law with strict provisions against question paper leaks was brought in the year 2024 itself, and now it is being made more stringent by removing the shortcomings.

Counterattack on the figures of Gaurav Gogoi and Priyanka Gandhi

Responding to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s allegations of atrocities against children in Delhi, the Union Minister said that the government took action with utmost restraint so that no one lost their lives. Taking a dig at the Congress, he said that Gogoi was probably speaking from his past experiences, as 860 people were killed in police action on student movements between 1979 and 1984 during the Congress rule in Assam. Along with this, expressing surprise at Priyanka Gandhi’s claims that papers have been leaked 152 times in the country and 750 crore children have been affected, he asked from where does she come up with such baseless and exaggerated figures.
