Union Minister’s son trapped in honeytrap? ‘5 crore’ clarification on viral video

Bandi Bhagirath, son of Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, seems to be badly trapped in a case related to sexual harassment. A case has been registered against Bhagirath on Friday night for molesting and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl. A case has been registered against Bhagirath under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).

The girl’s mother has lodged a complaint with the Basheerabad police that Bhagirath had been harassing her daughter for the last six months. He misbehaved with the girl at a farmhouse in Hyderabad. The girl and Bhagirath met through common friends in Hyderabad.

What are the charges against Sai Bhagirath?

Bhagirath had sexual relations with the girl on the pretext of marriage. On the other hand, Bhagirath lodged a complaint with Karimnagar II Town police. He said that the girl’s family tried to trap him. He asked her to marry him, but when she refused, he demanded Rs 5 crore.

Bhagirath alleges that out of fear he gave Rs 50,000 to the girl’s father, but he kept asking for more money. He also threatened to file a false case and commit suicide. Police have registered cases on both sides. The girl’s statement will be recorded and her medical test may also be done. The matter is under investigation.

Basheerabad Police has registered a case against Bagirath under sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Section 11 of the POCSO Act. Now the police is busy investigating the facts related to this case.

What clarification has Bhagiratha given?

On Friday, Bhagirath told Karimnagar II Town police that he had met the girl several months ago. The girl’s family considered him a friend and took him along on home functions and pilgrimages.

Bhagiratha said, ‘I considered him trustworthy, so I went to pilgrimage places with him. Later the girl’s parents threatened me to marry her. I refused Then the girl and her parents asked me for money. He said that if the money is not given then a false case will be filed against me. I was threatened that a complaint would be filed that I had harassed and had physical relations with the girl. Out of fear I gave Rs 50,000 to the girl’s father. But now they are asking for Rs 5 crore. He threatened that if the money was not given the girl would commit suicide.

What has the police done?

On the complaint of Bhagirath, the police registered a case against the girl and her parents under BNS on Friday evening. Police said that the girl’s statement will be recorded and if necessary, her medical examination will also be conducted.
