Unique performance of bullion traders: Sold ‘Jhalmuri’ and said – Today you will not get gold but Jhalmuri in the shop.
Shopkeepers said- decreasing interest of customers has badly affected the business.
Jaisalmer. In Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, jewelery traders on Monday registered a symbolic protest against the slowdown in gold business by selling ‘Jhalmuri’ in the city’s bullion market and expressed their displeasure, saying that the declining interest of customers has badly affected the business.
Instead of displaying gold and silver jewellery, many traders were seen preparing Jhalmuri and serving it to passers-by and customers. Traders said that due to rising prices and changing consumer attitudes, the demand for gold jewelery has fallen sharply, due to which their livelihoods are being affected.
Trader Amrit Soni said, “We have been doing this business for generations, but sales have declined so much that it is becoming difficult to even meet the operating expenses.” Another businessman said that he respects government policies, but the current market conditions are pushing many businessmen towards financial crisis.
According to Sony, there has been a huge decline in customer numbers and many buyers are postponing purchases due to record high prices. Representatives of local jewelery trader associations said they would soon convey their concerns to the administration and demand support to the sector.
