Repair work is underway on the Lucknow-Kanpur Greenfield Expressway which caved in just 12 days after its inauguration. Now a new video of the repair site is rapidly going viral on social media. In the video, 10 high-speed fans are seen running simultaneously to dry the moisture on the road. Various reactions are coming up on social media regarding this.
The approximately 63-kilometer-long Lucknow-Kanpur Greenfield Expressway was inaugurated on July 13 by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. About 12 days after the inauguration, a 100-meter stretch of road caved in near kilometer 64 of the expressway in the Unnao area during rain.
The issue gained momentum after a video of the road collapse surfaced. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) subsequently initiated repair work. Patchwork and road repairs have been underway on the expressway for several days.
10 fans installed to dry a 60 meter area
New videos have surfaced amid the ongoing repair work, drawing public attention. It’s being reported that 10 high-speed fans have been installed to quickly remove moisture from the approximately 60-meter-long area. These fans are being used to quickly dry the soil and the repaired area, allowing for further work to be completed quickly.
To ensure rain doesn’t disrupt the repair work, large tarpaulins have been arranged at the site. These tarpaulins can be used to cover the repaired area if needed. After the video of fans drying the road went viral, social media users are reacting differently.
NHAI removed the project director
NHAI has also taken action in the expressway collapse case. Project Director Nakul Prakash Verma has been removed from his post. Bareilly Project Director Navratna has been appointed in his place.
An investigation is also underway to determine the quality of the road and the reasons for the collapse. A team from IIT Kharagpur has been assigned to investigate the expressway. Further action will be taken after receiving the investigation report.
Toll collection halted until repairs are complete
The NHAI has suspended toll collection on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway until repairs are completed. Motorists will not be charged tolls until further notice.
Meanwhile, approximately five kilometers of the expressway has been diverted due to repair work. This has disrupted traffic in some areas and caused traffic jams. Traffic on the expressway is reportedly less than before.
