UP: 12 PNB employees suspended in Rs 10 crore game

Lucknow, Read: A sensational case of robbery of compensation worth crores of rupees to local farmers has come to light in the Aichhar branch of Punjab National Bank located in Greater Noida (West), Uttar Pradesh. According to the bank management, preliminary investigation has confirmed a scam of approximately ₹9.5 crore.

This was the money that the farmers had received as compensation for their lands acquired for Noida International Airport (Jewar) and they had made its fixed deposit.

Taking strict action on this mega-scam, the bank has suspended 12 suspicious employees including the branch manager with immediate effect. Preparations are being made to hand over the investigation of the case to CBI.

Female employee accused of being involved in conspiracy

According to the information received, a senior female employee of the bank carried out this entire conspiracy in collaboration with outside fraudsters. The accused female employee cleverly stole the “secret password” of the branch manager. Subsequently, without any permission, signature or OTP of the account holders, the FDs of more than 30 farmers were prematurely closed one by one. As soon as the FD was broken, this amount worth crores of rupees was transferred to other suspicious bank accounts.

This game came to light when some farmers went to the bank to withdraw money from their FD and accounts and their balance was found to be “zero”. After this, the aggrieved farmers started a huge ruckus in the bank premises.
