UP: After the minister, Mayawati’s siege, demonstration of 69 thousand teacher recruitment candidates

The agitation in the capital Lucknow regarding the recruitment of 69 thousand teachers remained fierce for the second consecutive day. After the residence of the Education Minister, a large number of candidates reached the residence of BSP supremo and former Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday. The protesters surrounded the residence and demanded a meeting with Mayawati. During this, there was a heated argument and scuffle between the police and the candidates. Seeing the situation worsening, the police detained all the protesters and sent them to Eco Garden.

Candidates roared outside Mayawati residence

Candidates from different districts of the state demonstrated strongly outside Mayawati’s residence. The protesters continued to raise slogans of “Mayawati come out” and “give us justice”. He said that the BSP chief should come forward openly on the issue of alleged injustice done to Dalit and backward class candidates.

During the demonstration, the police prevented the candidates from moving forward by barricading. After this, there was pushing and heated argument between the police and the protesters for about 15 minutes. Later, the police detained all the protesters including the women candidates and sent them to Eco Garden by buses. Heavy police force remained deployed all the time outside Mayawati’s residence.

Female candidate sat on the road, tension increased

During the demonstration, a female candidate sat on strike on the road demanding to meet Mayawati. The female policemen tried to remove her, but she remained adamant on her demand. After this the police took him into custody along with other protesters.

Candidates adamant on 6800 appointments

The protesters alleged that discrepancies related to reservation on 6800 posts have not been resolved yet. He says that the National Backward Classes Commission and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have also accepted the irregularities, but despite this the government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court for 8270 seats, which includes 4946 such names which have already been left out of the recruitment process thrice. They claim that this is affecting the opportunities of genuinely eligible candidates.

‘The movement will continue until the appointment is made’

The candidates have demanded that eligible candidates from backward and Dalit classes should be appointed on 6800 posts and a new merit list should be prepared by considering the posts of the already excluded candidates as vacant. The protesters clearly said that until the discrepancies related to reservation are removed and all the eligible candidates are given appointments, their agitation will continue on the streets of the capital.
