UP Cabinet Meeting: Free scooty-hostel for girl students gets green signal, Yogi government approves 18 major decisions

Lucknow:In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 18 important proposals were approved for the all-round development of the state. In this high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence, many major decisions related to education, infrastructure, women’s welfare, transport and the upcoming legislative session were taken.

Girl students will get free scooter

Giving information about the decisions of the cabinet meeting, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that the state government is starting ‘Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme’.

  • Eligibility Range: Scooty will be given to the top 5 percent meritorious girl students of government, private and aided colleges of the state who will graduate in the session 2025-26.
  • Income Range: For this, the annual income of the student’s family should not exceed Rs 12 lakh.
  • Special discounts: Divyangjan, orphans and daughters of martyr families will not have to face any condition of income or merit, they will get benefits directly.
  • extra features: Along with the scooter, registration, insurance, helmet, accessories and 5 liters of petrol will also be given free. In the current year, a target has been set to distribute scooters to about 50,000 girl students through GeM portal.

Expressway connectivity and infrastructure expansion

  • Prayagraj-Sonbhadra Expressway: Approval for construction of 330 km long new expressway.
  • Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressway: This 117 kilometer long route will connect Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Chandauli with Purvanchal Expressway.

Hostel for women and 220 new electric buses

Keeping in mind the safety and convenience of women, allotment of land was approved for the construction of hostel for 112 girl students and 500 room hostel for working women in Basant Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Varanasi. To make public transport good and pollution free, it was decided to purchase 220 new electric buses (42 and 50 seater) at a cost of Rs 400 crore.

Monsoon session and other important decisions

The Cabinet has fixed the dates for the upcoming monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature. This session will run from August 3 to August 6, during which the state government will present the supplementary budget. In the meeting, approval was given to table the report of the Judicial Inquiry Commission constituted on Sambhaal violence in the Legislature and provision of financial support of Rs 20 crore for Outsourcing Service Corporation Portal and salary management of employees was also passed.
