The Transport Department has set up Accredited Driving Training Centers (ADTC) with the aim of producing better drivers and promoting road safety. These centers are in the hands of private operators. An ADTC operates at Uditkheda in Kakori in Lucknow. A total of 32 centers are working in 20 districts of the state. Special tracks have been made at these centers for driving tests. Under the proposed system, the entire amount of user charge will go to the account of the concerned ADTC operator.

Government fee of DL Rs 1350

The government fee for learner's license is Rs 350 and for permanent DL is Rs 1,000. In this way the total government fee is Rs 1,350. At the same time, applicants have to spend Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 for getting the license through brokers. Expenditure will increase further due to implementation of user charge.
