As the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh intensify, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s active presence in state politics is clearly visible. Amidst the election preparations, CM Yogi’s grassroots presence and political activism are consistently setting new records. Within the past two months, the Chief Minister has completed a whirlwind tour of all 18 divisions of Uttar Pradesh, establishing direct and strong access to nearly 219 assembly seats in the state. From Purvanchal to Western Uttar Pradesh and Bundelkhand, CM Yogi’s constant presence in every corner has given the opposition parties sleepless nights.
A whirlwind tour in 45 days and direct interaction with the public in countless districts
In just 45 days, the Chief Minister has made numerous visits to Bijnor, Ghaziabad, Agra, Jhansi, Mainpuri, Varanasi, and his home district, Gorakhpur. During these visits, the Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several major development projects, addressed large public meetings, conducted on-the-ground reviews of government schemes, and established direct communication with the public through “Janata Darshan.”
CM Yogi’s whirlwind campaign continues in 41 districts, including Chitrakoot, Etawah, Mainpuri, Agra, Jalaun, Fatehpur, Gorakhpur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Barabanki, Sambhal, Amroha, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Bijnor, Shamli, Kushinagar, Basti, Ayodhya, Banda, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, Saharanpur, Rampur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Hathras, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), Deoria, Sant Kabir Nagar, Aligarh, Firozabad, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Balrampur, Mau, and Lucknow. During this period, he is simultaneously holding rallies and reviewing law and order and development work.
Opposition leaders remain confined to Delhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati’s ground-level activism remains sluggish.
While Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is consistently out in the field, the ground-level activism of senior opposition leaders is lacking in the expected election year. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, aside from a few small visits, held a major public meeting in Dadri in March 2026, which was considered the beginning of his 2027 election campaign. However, since then, the scope of his large public gatherings has been quite limited. While Akhilesh Yadav frequently targets the government through social media, press conferences, and party workers’ events, he lags far behind CM Yogi in terms of consistent public meetings on the ground.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is facing a similar situation. BSP supremo Mayawati’s last major rally in Uttar Pradesh was held on October 9, 2025, at the Kanshi Ram Memorial in Lucknow. Despite the election dates drawing closer, large-scale rallies and public meetings by the BSP are currently rare. The party is primarily relying on social media for political statements and messages.
Yogi’s quip: “I will tour four times more than the opposition.”
Thus, just before the 2027 assembly elections, CM Yogi’s ever-growing ground presence versus the opposition’s limited rallies is presenting a very interesting electoral picture in UP politics. It will be exciting to see which political party changes its strategy as the election approaches. Just last week, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made it clear in a humorous and sarcastic remark, “By the time the opposition completes one round of the state, I will have already completed four rounds of the entire state. In terms of percentage, the contest will be 80 to 20.”
