UP Free Gas Cylinder: Yogi government's Diwali gift, 1.86 crore women will get free cylinder

UP Free Gas Cylinder: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a very commendable step to provide relief to the general public during the festival season. In the era of ever increasing inflation, managing kitchen expenses is becoming a difficult task for poor and middle class families. Keeping this in mind, the Yogi government of the state has taken a big decision to provide free LPG cylinders to all the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. About 1.86 crore families of the state will get direct benefits from this decision. During festivals, when dishes are prepared in homes and there is an atmosphere of happiness, then this gift will bring relief to the faces of the women and poor sections of the state.

Initiative to double the happiness of festivals

It is generally seen that the kitchen budget suddenly increases during festivals. Due to inflation, refilling gas cylinders had become a big challenge for many poor families. Many houses had gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme, but due to lack of money to fill the empty cylinders, women were forced to light the stove again and burn wood or cow dung cakes. Wood smoke not only harms health but also has a bad effect on the environment. With the intention of ending this helplessness of the poor and improving their standard of living, the state government has taken this historic step in the cabinet meeting. The aim of the government is that no poor family should sit in front of a smoke-filled stove on the auspicious occasion of festival due to lack of money.

You will get the gift of free cylinder refill twice

As per the rules set by the state government, the beneficiaries will be given the facility to refill gas cylinders completely free of cost twice a year. The first phase of this scheme is starting on the occasion of Diwali. Under this, beneficiary families can get their first free cylinder between October and December 2026. The second phase will be implemented during the festival of colors Holi, in which the second cylinder will be given free of cost between January to March 2027. The government plans to ensure that there is no burden of LPG on the pockets of poor families during both the big festivals.

Important rules decided for the scheme

Only those families who are already registered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana can avail the benefit of this relief. Consumers having normal domestic gas connections will not be included in this scope. The government has made it clear that some rules have been made to ensure that its benefits reach only the eligible people. To avail the benefits of the scheme, it is mandatory for the gas connection holder to have identity authentication and biometric verification. Apart from this, the bank account of the beneficiary should also be linked to Aadhaar and the facility of direct benefit transfer should be fully operational in that account. If the bank account is not linked properly, there may be a hindrance in getting the subsidy money into the account.

How to get money for free gas cylinder

Under this scheme, the process of getting free gas has been kept very easy and transparent. On the occasion of Diwali, the beneficiary will have to book the gas cylinder as usual from their respective gas agency, like Indane, Bharat Gas or Hindustan Petroleum. While taking delivery the consumer will have to pay the full amount of the cylinder. After this, through the matching of government mechanism and oil companies, the entire subsidy amount of the cylinder will be sent directly to the consumer's bank account within a few days. In this way the consumer will not have to pay any extra money from his pocket and the cylinder will be completely free.

Get your formalities completed on time

If any beneficiary has not yet verified his/her biometric identity, he/she should immediately contact his/her nearest gas agency without any delay. Apart from this, the verification process can also be completed at home through the mobile apps of the respective gas companies. By completing all the necessary paperwork on time, there will be no possibility of the subsidy getting stuck at the last moment. This step of the government has brought a pleasant and relieving message for crores of mothers and sisters of the state.
