UP government gave good news, Rs 3 per unit electricity

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh government has taken an important decision for electricity consumers with the aim of providing relief to economically weaker families. Under the new system, up to 100 units of electricity will be provided to eligible domestic consumers of BPL (Lifeline) category at the rate of only Rs 3 per unit.

Through this scheme, the government is trying to reduce the monthly expenses of poor families by giving subsidy on electricity. The government believes that in the midst of rising inflation, availability of cheap electricity will provide great financial relief to people of lower income groups and will also reduce the pressure on their household budget.

Which consumers will get the benefit of the scheme?

The benefit of this special scheme will be available only to domestic consumers having prescribed eligibility. Some necessary conditions have been set for this. The consumer should be a BPL (Lifeline) category domestic electricity consumer. The sanctioned load of electricity connection should be maximum 1 kW. Electricity consumption should be up to 100 units in a month. The subsidy received by eligible consumers will be directly adjusted in their electricity bill, resulting in a lower amount to be paid.

Why did the government bring this scheme?

The aim of the government is not only to provide cheap electricity but also to make the electricity system more robust. Officials believe that when electricity bills come down, consumers will be motivated to pay on time. This will reduce the problem of outstanding bills and can also help in controlling electricity theft. Apart from this, families who do not yet have a valid electricity connection can also come forward to get regular connections in greater numbers.

This will reduce the electricity bills of millions of consumers and they will get direct financial relief.

benefit poor families

This initiative will reduce the monthly expenses of low income families and they will be able to spend more on their other essential needs. With increasing trend of regular electricity bill payment, the electricity distribution system is also expected to become stronger.
