After the implementation of this scheme, women above 60 years of age will be able to travel in Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation buses without paying fare.

The government aims to make public transportation easy and accessible for elderly women. Under the scheme, eligible women will not have to pay separate fare for bus travel and it is said that this facility will continue throughout their life.

Age will be confirmed through Aadhaar or Voter ID.

To avail the benefits of the scheme, women will have to provide proof of their age. Aadhar card or Voter ID can be used for this. This is expected to make it easier to check eligibility during bus journeys. According to Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, a large number of senior women will benefit from this decision. Especially for those women who travel by bus for treatment, family or other important work, this facility can provide financial relief.

About 81 lakh women can get benefits
