Lucknow, Read. Preparations are on to take the economic partnership between Uttar Pradesh and Japan to new heights. More than 200 industrialists, CEOs, business representatives and policy-makers from Japan will participate in the 'UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026' to be held from August 18 to 23. Investment possibilities in many sectors including manufacturing, semiconductor, clean and green energy, digital infrastructure, skill development and tourism will be discussed in the event. The objective of this investment conference organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is to attract Japanese companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh and create new employment opportunities with technical cooperation.
Governor of Yamanashi will lead the Japanese delegation
Japan's high-level delegation will be led by Yamanashi Prefecture Governor Kotaro Nagasaki. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will welcome the Japanese delegation in New Delhi on Tuesday. In the program organized by Invest UP, Japanese companies will get the opportunity to interact directly with central and state government officials, Indian industry groups and educational institutions.
Investment related programs will be held from Delhi to Lucknow
High level CEO roundtable and inaugural session will be held in New Delhi on 19th August. After this, the main state level investment conference will be held on 21st August at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. Government-to-Business and Business-to-Business matchmaking sessions will be organized in it. Apart from Lucknow, there will be different sessions related to investment and business partnerships in Greater Noida, Agra and Varanasi.
Investment Opportunities from Semiconductor to Green Hydrogen
At the conference, investment opportunities will be presented to Japanese companies in areas such as renewable energy, clean technology, green hydrogen, auto components, electronics, semiconductors, Global Capability Center (GCC) and data centers. There will also be special emphasis on skill development and industry-academic collaboration. Academia-Industry interaction is proposed at Galgotias University, Greater Noida. Senior ministers and officials of the state government will communicate with investors and take forward potential projects. The government aims to convert Japanese companies' interest into investment, technology transfer, joint projects and job creation. This is being considered an important step towards the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a 1 trillion dollar economy.
Escorts Kubota-Minda will invest Rs 3,191 crore
The proposed projects of Escorts Kubota and Minda Corporation are important towards strengthening the Japanese manufacturing ecosystem in the Yida region. Escorts Kubota's project proposes an investment of Rs 2,025 crore, which is expected to create more than 3,800 employment opportunities. A total investment of Rs 1,166 crore is proposed in two projects of Minda Corporation. This is likely to create around 6,440 jobs. A total investment of Rs 3,191 crore and employment of more than 10 thousand is estimated from the projects of both the companies.
'Japanese City' will be developed in 500 acres
It is proposed to develop a 500-acre 'Japanese City' in the Yida area to provide an integrated industrial base for Japanese companies and their suppliers. This is expected to boost supply chain, ancillary industries, technology transfer and employment. During the investment conference, opportunities related to Buddhist circuit, hospitality and civic infrastructure of Varanasi-Sarnath and Kushinagar will also be presented to Japanese investors. Possibilities of tourism and smart civic infrastructure in Agra will be discussed.
Emphasis on technology and employment along with investment
The focus of UP-Japan Investment Meet is not limited to just gathering investment. The government is also working with Japanese companies to promote technology transfer, local supply chains, skill development and industry-academia collaboration. This is expected to increase employment opportunities with new industries in the state.
