Varanasi: A list regarding the dates of Panchayat elections 2026 in Uttar Pradesh is becoming increasingly viral on social media. It has been claimed that voting will be held in different phases from October 15 and counting of votes will take place on November 18. However, this information is incorrect. The viral list is actually related to Lok Sabha seats and is being circulated with misleading claims.
What is the truth about the dates of Viral Panchayat elections?
A list regarding Panchayat elections 2026 in Uttar Pradesh is becoming increasingly viral on social media. It is being claimed in the viral post that the State Election Commission has fixed the dates of Panchayat elections and voting will start in different phases from October 15. The dates of October 21, October 29 and November 7 are also given in the post. With this, it is being said that the counting of votes will take place on November 18. However, this claim is not correct and it is misleading to call the list going viral as the official schedule of Panchayat elections.
Voting is being claimed from 15th October
Voting dates are given along with the names of different areas of Uttar Pradesh in the list circulated on social media. According to viral information, elections have been claimed to be held on October 15 in many areas including Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Mathura, Aligarh, Agra, Shamli and Hapur.
Similarly, the list of October 21 includes the names of areas like Hathras, Sambhal, Fatehpur, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Farrukhabad, Kanpur, Kannauj, Etawah, Bahraich and Lakhimpur Kheri.
For October 29 and November 7, names of different districts and Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh have also been given. The viral post claims that after these phases, counting of votes will take place on November 18.
Viral list is not for Panchayat elections
Investigation has revealed that the list being viral on social media is being presented as Panchayat election programme, whereas this list is related to Lok Sabha seats. It is being circulated in a misleading manner by associating it with the dates of Panchayat elections.
This is the reason why it is not right to consider the dates visible on social media as the official dates of UP Panchayat Elections 2026. There has been no such confirmation of these dates from the State Election Commission.
Reservation will be done first, then the process will proceed.
The process related to reservation has to be completed before the process of Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh can proceed. After this, other preparations and programs for the elections will be decided. Therefore, it is not appropriate to consider election dates as final on the basis of any social media post or viral list.
The dates of voting and counting will be confirmed only after the election schedule is officially announced. For any information related to elections, one should rely only on the official information issued by the State Election Commission and Administration.
Questions on the possibility of elections being held this year
According to administrative officials, Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh are not expected to be held this year. There is a possibility that Panchayat elections may be held along with or around the assembly elections.
In such a situation, the claim of starting Panchayat elections from October 15, voting on different dates and counting of votes on November 18 is not correct at present. It is necessary to confirm the list going viral on social media before considering it as the official program of Panchayat elections 2026.
