UP News: Strong performance of UP in electricity supply, remained first in the country for 74 days out of 135.

UP News: The effect of strengthening the power supply system in Uttar Pradesh during the tenure of Yogi government is now visible in the figures also. In 135 days from May 1 till now, Uttar Pradesh has supplied the highest electricity demand in the country for 74 days. The state remained at second position for 37 days. In this way, out of total 135 days, UP remained among the top two states of the country for 111 days.

22 days cut free electricity to all consumers

Outage-free electricity supply was ensured to all categories of consumers in the state for 22 days from May 24 till now. The government says that this achievement has been achieved at a time when production and supply in coal mines has been affected due to heavy rains and waterlogging in many parts of the country.

Due to rain, power generation in thermal power plants of many states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat has been affected.

Impact on thermal production from wet coal

According to UPPCL, thermal power generation capacity has been affected in Uttar Pradesh also due to shortage of coal and wet coal. Apart from this, power availability has decreased due to tripping in different power units due to technical and other reasons.

Despite these challenges, the state government is making continuous efforts to maintain the electricity supply system as normal. The government's emphasis is on better utilization of available resources and providing maximum relief to consumers.

Normal during the day, limited rostering at night

Electricity supply remains normal during day time in the state. However, due to less availability of power during peak hours and only 2 to 3 percent clearance in power exchange, limited night roasting is being done in some areas.

Its effect is mainly visible in rural areas, Bundelkhand, Tehsil and Nagar Panchayat areas. Despite this, 24-hour power supply is being ensured at the district headquarters.

Emphasis on increasing the availability of coal

The state government is continuously coordinating with concerned agencies including Coal India Limited (CIL) to maintain uninterrupted power supply. Effective steps are being taken to increase the availability of coal and energy.

The government's aim is to maintain the stability of the power system in the current circumstances and to provide maximum relief to consumers. The government is continuously monitoring the situation amid challenges related to coal supply and power availability.
