UP: State government takes major action on corruption and negligence in health department, 5 medical officers dismissed from service

Lucknow, 8 May. Uttar Pradesh government, while running a big campaign against negligence and corruption in the health department, has dismissed five medical officers from service while departmental action has been initiated against 16 other officers including the Chief Medical Officer.

While giving instructions to the Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the government has a ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards negligence in health services and there will be no compromise on the lives of patients. He said that strict action against guilty officials will continue to ensure transparency, accountability and discipline in public health services.

Dismissed medical officer was absent from duty for a long time without permission

The medical officers dismissed from service include Dr. Alaknanda of District Hospital Gorakhpur, Dr. Ramji Bhardwaj posted in Kushinagar, Dr. Saurabh Singh of Balrampur, Dr. Viklesh Kumar Sharma posted in CHC Jagdishpur, Amethi and Dr. Monica Verma of CHC Dibiyapur, Auraiya. All of them were accused of being absent from duty without notice for a long time and abstaining from medical work.

Departmental action against these medical officers also

A departmental inquiry has been ordered against Dr. Sanjay Kumar Shaiwal and Dr. Sanjay Verma into alleged irregularities in the registration and renewal of private hospitals, nursing homes and ultrasound centers in Ambedkar Nagar. An investigation has been initiated against Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Medical Superintendent of Sandila in Hardoi, on charges of negligence in duty and not taking action against illegal private hospitals.

Dr. Shamim Akhtar, Superintendent of Meja Community Health Center, Prayagraj, has been transferred and departmental action has been initiated against him. In Sultanpur district, action has been ordered against Dr. Anil Kumar Singh, Dr. Dharamraj and pharmacist Avadhanarayan in the case of alleged negligence in the treatment of a female patient.

Mathura District Hospital’s emergency medical officer Dr Devendra Kumar and surgeon Dr Vikas Mishra are accused of alleged irregularities in medical examination procedures. In this sequence, the government has censured Dr. Pratibha Yadav of Bahraich and Dr. Rakesh Singh of Mathura.

The three annual increments of Hamirpur gynecologist Dr. Lalmani have been permanently stopped. He is accused of extorting money from pregnant women and misbehaving with patients. After the allegations of private practice were found true against Dr. Pawan Sahu, working in Jhansi, action has been taken to impose censure and stop two increments.
