Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred in many districts of Uttar Pradesh during the last 24 hours. According to IMD, there is a possibility of thunderstorm, strong winds and lightning in 20 districts, while farmers have been advised to take special precautions.
Lucknow: Rainy season continues in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be a situation of thunderstorm and lightning along with heavy rain in many parts of the state. Weather warnings have been issued in 11 districts of Eastern UP and 9 districts of Western UP. However, the IMD’s September 28 subdivisional bulletin does not record any state-level warning for September 29 across eastern and western UP.
Heavy rain occurred in many districts
Due to the impact of the existing weather system in Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain was recorded in many areas in the last 24 hours. According to the information given, 34 cm rainfall was recorded in Lakhimpur Kheri in Eastern UP, 27 cm in Sitapur, 24 cm in Bahraich and 23 cm in Banda.
Hamirpur in western Uttar Pradesh recorded 21 cm rainfall, while Mahoba and Shahjahanpur recorded 19 cm rainfall each. IMD’s September 27 bulletin had predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of Uttar Pradesh due to the system over north-eastern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining northern Chhattisgarh.
Thunderstorm and lightning warning in these districts of Eastern UP
According to the information given, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning along with rain in Bahraich, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Hardoi, Kanpur city, Kanpur Dehat, Kheri, Shravasti, Unnao, Sitapur and Kannauj.
However, there is no warning recorded in East Uttar Pradesh in the latest IMD sub-divisional warning for September 29. Therefore, the situation for the next day should be seen keeping in mind the district level warning and local weather updates.
Effect of strong winds in western UP
The information given for Badaun, Bareilly, Etah, Etawah, Firozabad, Kasganj, Mainpuri, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Rampur and Moradabad states that there is a possibility of strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour, lightning and storm.
At the same time, in the latest sub-divisional bulletin of IMD dated September 28, there is no warning recorded for Western Uttar Pradesh on September 29.
Farmers advised to be cautious considering the weather
In view of the possibility of rain and storm, farmers have been advised to pay attention to the drainage system in the fields and postpone agricultural works like irrigation during bad weather. It is also important to avoid working in open fields during lightning and strong winds.
