Monsoon has once again gained tremendous momentum in Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rains in many parts of the state on Thursday have brought relief to the people from the scorching humidity and scorching heat. The maximum rainfall of 66 mm was recorded in Agra in the last 24 hours.
There was 60 mm rainfall in Lalitpur, 57 mm in Etah, 36.4 mm in Ballia, 28.8 mm in Azamgarh and 26.3 mm in Gorakhpur. Due to rain, a drop in temperature has been recorded in many cities.
The rainy season may continue till August 17
According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department (IMD), monsoon has become fully active in the state and its effect can be seen continuously till August 17. During this period, there is full possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain in different areas of the state and at many places heavy rain. Due to continuous rain, there may be a significant drop in the maximum temperature by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius within the next three days, due to which the weather will remain pleasant.
Yellow alert of heavy rain in 28 districts
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert on Friday regarding torrential rains in 28 districts of the state. The districts where warning of heavy rain has been given include Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Mahoba and Lalitpur are included.
Alert of thunderstorm and lightning in 55 districts
Along with heavy rain, there is a serious possibility of thunder, strong storm and lightning in 55 districts of the state. The list of affected districts includes many major cities including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gonda, Bahraich, Sitapur, Ayodhya, Meerut, Bareilly, Jhansi and Lalitpur. Weather experts have appealed to people to avoid going in open fields or under trees during bad weather and lightning and stay in safe places.
Chances of rain in Lucknow too, temperature will drop
The humidity and sticky heat throughout the day on Thursday troubled people a lot in the capital Lucknow. Although dark clouds covered the sky in the evening, it did not rain. The Meteorological Department estimates that intermittent rain may start in Lucknow from Friday due to the movement of clouds.
With the onset of rain in Lucknow, the maximum temperature may come down by 5 to 6 degrees within the next three days. According to senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal has now turned into a depression. Due to the effect of this strong weather system, monsoon activities are likely to intensify further in the next few days in Uttar Pradesh.
