Triveniganj. Students created ruckus in Anupalal Yadav College on Thursday over alleged illegal extortion during the practical examination of graduation fourth semester. The students protested by sitting in the principal's room. When the uproar escalated, the matter was calmed down with the intervention of the Principal. The students demanded an investigation into the matter from the university administration and action.
Other candidates including Uzma Praveen, Neha Kumari, Mausam Kumari, Ritu Kumari, Anku Kumari, Sapna Kumari, Ishu Raj, Ashfaq Alam and Shashikant Kumar, who came to take the practical exam, alleged that Rs 300 is being demanded from each candidate in the name of practical exam. Students say that at the time of enrolment, Rs 600 and Rs 600 have also been taken in the name of tuition fee. Despite this, a separate amount is being sought for the practical examination.
According to the candidates, when they reached the college at around 10 am on Thursday morning, they were told that if they did not pay the money, they would not be allowed to appear in the exam. The students also accused the teachers of giving less marks or threatening them with failure if they did not pay the money. When the students approached the principal regarding the matter, he denied demanding any such amount. After this, the students were asked to take the exam from 2 pm.
Some girl students alleged that there was pressure from the teachers during the examination and they were scolded for not paying the money. According to the students, in the practical examination of the Home Science Department, it was said that marks would be given on the basis of performance in cooking and other tasks. The students also alleged that despite depositing various fees, regular classes are not held in the college.
AISA student leader Santosh Kumar Siota alleged that apart from the fees charged during enrollment and filling the examination forms, students are allegedly charged Rs 1,000 in the name of CIA exam, Rs 300 to 400 in the name of practical exam and additional amount is also taken in the name of internship. He said that if extra fee is being charged on any item, then even its receipt is not given.
The principal said – the allegations are baseless
The college principal termed the allegations made by the students as baseless. He said that some students are somehow trying to spoil the atmosphere of the college. If any student has faced any kind of problem, the college administration has tried to solve it. He said that necessary steps have been taken keeping in mind the interest of the college and there is no truth in the allegations being made.
