Kanpur. In view of the continuous rain and weather conditions in Kanpur, it has been decided to shift the upcoming playoff and final matches of UP T20 League Season 4 from Kanpur to Lucknow. Now the playoff and final matches of the league will be played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on pre-determined dates.
UP T-20 League Governing Council Chairman Dr. Sanjay Kapoor gave this information in a press conference held at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. He said that the interests of the players, providing equal and better playing conditions to all teams and maintaining the quality of matches are the top priority for the league management.
No match in Kanpur due to heavy rain
Due to continuous rain in Kanpur, it is not possible to complete the matches, due to which the game and the talents of the players are being affected. In such a situation, in important and decisive matches like playoffs, it is very important that all the teams get equal and fair opportunity to play full 20 overs.
He said, “We observed the weather forecast in the coming days which shows continuous rain in Kanpur. In view of the above circumstances, the decision to shift the playoff matches and final to Lucknow has been taken with a heavy heart.
Continuous rain can affect the game
Dr. Sanjay Kapoor said that this decision has not been taken in favor or against any one team, but in the interest of the fairness of the game and the players. Wet outfields due to continuous rain can increase the risk of injury for players. He further said that the physical and mental fatigue caused to the players due to frequent interruption of matches due to weather and matches ending late in the night in shorter format has also been taken into consideration.
In our view, all the teams reaching the playoffs should get better conditions to perform to their full potential. He said that the effort of the league management is to ensure that in important matches like playoffs, the players get the opportunity to play full 20 overs, the spectators can enjoy uninterrupted cricket and the teams can get a better platform to showcase their strategy and ability.
Remaining matches and final in Ekana, not Green Park
He further informed that the playoff matches and final matches will be held in Lucknow as per the pre-determined dates. The UP T20 League management said that it expresses its gratitude for the support received from the spectators, players, teams, officials and all the supporting organizations during the Kanpur leg. On this occasion, Chairman of Media Committee of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association Mohammad Faheem, UP T-20 League Governing Council member Sanjeev Kumar Singh and others were present.
