Urvil Patel Scores Fastest 50 IPL 2026 And Thanks His Father: Watch

Chennai Super Kings batter Urvil Patel has scored a 13-ball half-century against the Lucknow Super Giants, the fastest one in IPL 2026.

The CSK vs LSG game is Match 53 of the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League. The contest is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The home side won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The Super Giants got off to a decent start, scoring 91 runs in the power play and not losing a wicket. This was on the back of a stellar performance by opener Josh Inglis. The Aussie scored a 17-ball 50 and was playing at 77 off 25 at the end of the sixth over.

However, quick and regular wickets meant that by the end of the 10th over, the score was 117/4. A decent 43 off 25 in the second half of the first innings by Shahbaz Ahmed meant that LSG crawled past the 200-run mark, ending their 20-over innings at 203/8, with Inglis’ 85 off 33 being the team’s driving force.

While chasing not the biggest total in IPL 2026, CSK got off to a flying start. The opening pair of Sanju Samson and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad made 11 runs in the first over, then made 15 in the second.

Sanju hit a six and a four in the first three balls of the third over before being bowled by Digvesh Rathi for 28 off 14. This brought Urvil Patel to the crease.

The 27-year-old immediately made an impression, hitting three sixes in a row in the fifth over. He then hit three more sixes and a four in the sixth and final over of the powerplay. In the first over following the powerplay, Patel hit yet another six and at the end of it reached his 50 in just 13 balls.

This is the fastest half-century in IPL 2026 and the second fastest in the history of the league, just one shy of Yashasvi Jasiwal’s 12-ball-50 he scored in IPL 2023.

As soon as the Gujarati wicketkeeper/batter reached the milestone, he pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, which read, “This is for you papa.” Followed by a few more lines in his mother tongue, Gujarati.

Urvil Patel did not stop after reaching his 50. He hit a four and a six in the eighth over. At the end of the eighth, because of his blitz of an innings, CSK was already at 121/1, having all but won the match.

Patel lost his wicket at the start of the ninth over, getting dismissed by Shabaz Ahmed for 65 off 23. He had lost a lot of momentum after a solid over by Prince Yadav just before.
